Panasonic Wins the Case Brought by Dyson Regarding Nanoe EH-NA0G Hair Dryer

　　Panasonic Corporation (Panasonic) announced today (April 27, 2023) that the Tokyo District Court (“the Court”) has rendered judgement (“the Judgement”) to dismiss all claims by Dyson KK (Dyson) relating to the June 9, 2022 case that Dyson brought against Panasonic regarding Panasonic’s EH-NA0G Hair Dryer (“the Case”).　　Dyson filed the Case, seeking an injunction against advertisement of Panasonic’s nanocare EH-NA0G Hair Dryer. Upon filing, Dyson officially stated that it was confident that hair dryer advertisements related to the effects of nanoe technology on hair were misleading to consumers, and submitted test results supporting this claim as evidence to the court.　　In today’s Judgement, the Court points out that the tests were conducted under inappropriate conditions and the results from them cannot be relied upon, and as such it could not conclude that the data proved Dyson’s claim that Panasonic’s advertisements were misleading to consumers. The Court concluded that Panasonic’s advertisements do not violate the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.　　Panasonic will continue to convey accurate information about the value of our nanocare Hair Dryer series to our customers in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.

The letter was signed by AI experts including Turing Award winner Yoshua Bengio, UC Berkeley computer science professor Stuart Russell, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Twitter CEO Elon Musk.　　“This pause should be public and verifiable, and include all key actors,” the letter says. “If such a pause cannot be enacted quickly, governments should step in and institute a moratorium.”　　Written in the shadow of recent hype about the capabilities of GPT-4–powered AI agents like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, concerns cited by the experts in the letter include AI “[flooding] information channels with propaganda and untruth,” “[automation] of all jobs, including the fulfilling ones,” and “[risking] loss of control of our civilization.”　　“Such decisions must not be delegated to unelected tech leaders,” the letter says. “Powerful AI systems should be developed only once we are confident that their effects will be positive and their risks will be manageable.”

The new model will combine 4K/60FPS capability and a dynamic image stabilizing system (DISS) for high-precision videography, even in stadiums and other large venues, as well as cropping to reduce the risk of missing fast-developing highlights.　　The camera's rugged design makes it ideal for harsh outdoor environments, such as airports, warehouses and large ocean-going vessels, or for live broadcasting during blizzards, typhoons and other weather event. The AW-UR100 supports many protocols and interfaces for flexible system configuration to expand the possibilities of outdoor video production. It also offers extra functionality to help avoid missed shots and shooting errors for worry-free camerawork in the field, where risks are ever present.　　Demands for live streaming and other video production have sharpy increased in recent years. The live entertainment industry, which was greatly curtailed by the Covid disaster, has seen a surge in hybrid online/offline events. The AW-UR100 offers both a 74.1° horizontal wide-angle lens for panoramic pull-backs and 4K/60P compatibility for 24x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. It also features three types of image stabilization systems for shake-free video: optical image stabilization (OIS), electronic roll correction (EIS) and pan-tilt image stabilization (Dynamic Image Stabilizing System-DISS). Precision video production is assured regardless of the shooting environment, allowing highlights to be captured even from a bird's-eye view in large venues.　　Rugged Design for Reliable Performance Virtually Anywhere　　The AW-UR100 is built to withstand challenging outdoor environments, such as shooting in high-corrosion salt-air locations, including on large ships or in waterfront warehouses, or in other locations exposed to the elements, such as airports or outdoor events subjected to rain, wind, snow or intense sunlight.     The body is hermetically sealed to keep out wind-blown dust and sand, and a defroster warms the lens to prevent the formation of frost, ice or condensation in extreme temperatures down to -15°C (-4°F). There is also a convenient wiper to keep the lens clear in wet conditions.
